Foot grounders are a good alternative to wrist straps when personnel can’t be tied to a workbench. Operators who move around in the work area and who need to be grounded cannot wear a wrist strap that grounds them to a workbench with a coil cord. Foot grounders function exactly the same way as wrist straps by providing a ground path from the moisture layer on the wearer’s skin through the foot grounder to the grounded floor surface. We recommend that foot grounders be worn on both feet to ensure the one foot is always in contact with the floor to floor mat at all times. It is important that personnel are instructed in the proper use and maintenance of foot grounders.
